In His Image: The Covenant between Them Both

The parallels which showed the relationship of the Father and Son in the marriage covenant on earth were manifold.

The Covenant of God & Christ The Covenant of Adam & Eve

1) Christ had the same nature as God, called God (John 1:1)                    1) Eve had the same nature as Adam, called Adam (Gen. 5:2)
2) Christ was one with the Father (John 17:5,22)                                        2) Eve was one with Adam (Gen. 2:24)
3) God was first in respect of time (Micah 5:2)                                            3) Adam was first in respect of time (Gen. 2:18)
4) Christ came forth from God (John 16:27, Heb. 1:6)                               4) Eve came forth from Adam (Gen. 2:22)
5) Through Christ (the Word), God made all things (John 1:3)                5) Through Eve, Adam fills the earth. (Gen. 1:28)
6) Christ shared dominion with His Father over the universe                  6) Eve shared Adam’s dominion over the earth (Gen. 1:26)
(Zechariah 6:13, Rev. 3:21)
7) Christ is in the bosom (the heart) of the Father (John 1:18)                 7) The wife is in the bosom (the heart) of the husband (Deut. 13:6)
8) God honors Christ (John 8:54)                                                                   8) The husband honors the wife (1 Pet. 3:7)
8) He is equal with the Father (Phil. 2:6)                                                      8) She is equal with Adam (Eph. 5:28,33)
9) The Father is the head of Christ (1 Cor. 11:3)                                           9) The man is the head of the woman (1 Cor. 11:3)
10) Doesn’t seek His own way apart from the Father [submission]        10) The woman is not to seek press her own way apart from her husband                     (John 8:28, 1 Cor. 15:28)                                                                             [submission] (Eph. 5:24)
